Pakistan will be eager to maintain their hopes of qualifying for the ICC World Test Championships (WTC) final when they face Bangladesh in the 1st Test of a two-match series starting at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Wednesday (August 21). Currently in 6th place on the WTC Points Table with 2 wins from 5 matches, Pakistan will be looking to secure a victory against the struggling Bangladesh team who are positioned in 8th place.

Shan Masood’s side should be the clear favourites in the series with former Australian pacer Jason Gillespie getting ready for his first red-ball assignment. Pakistan will head into this game with an all-pace attack for the first time since December 2019 with Naseem Shah regaining his fitness to join Shaheen Shah Afridi to lead the attack.

Bangladesh, on the other hand, will miss the services of regular opener Mahmadul Hasan Joy, who is struggling with a groin injury. Apart from his skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto and Litton Das are also battling for form.
