Sanjay Manjrekar lashes out at Virat Kohli in a fit of anger, delivers harsh criticism

New Delhi: In a disappointing turn of events, Virat Kohli failed to make an impact in the first innings of the second Test match against New Zealand. Mitchell Santner dismissed Kohli with a clean bowl, causing the star batsman to head back to the pavilion after scoring just one run off 9 balls. The full toss delivery from Santner led to Kohli's dismissal, sparking heavy trolling of the Indian captain on social media. Sanjay Manjrekar's tweet criticizing Kohli's shot as the worst of his career has gone viral following the batsman's early exit.

Manjrekar’s tweet on Kohli’s wicket:

Actually, Virat Kohli had faced 8 balls and was looking for the first boundary of his innings. Virat tried to hit a big shot against Mitchell Santner, but he could not understand the line of the ball. Kohli was deceived by the almost full toss ball from the Kiwi spinner and the ball went between his bat and pad and hit the leg stump.

Virat himself appeared quite unhappy with his shot. After Kohli’s wicket, Sanjay Manjrekar tweeted, “Oh dear! Virat will know that he has just played the worst shot of his career to get out. Got to feel for him…coz as always he came out with solid & honest intent.”

Virat Kohli struggling for runs:

Virat Kohli is struggling badly for runs in Test cricket. In the year 2024, King Kohli’s bat has looked completely silent. Not a single century has come from Kohli’s bat this year. Forget about centuries, Virat has been able to score only one half-century this year. Kohli’s batting average in his favorite format has dropped below 50 for the first time. Even in the Test series played against Bangladesh, Kohli could not show anything special with the bat.
