After a successful career, former Leicester City midfielder Marc Albrighton has decided to retire from professional soccer at the age of 34. During his time with the club, Albrighton achieved great success, winning the Premier League, the FA Cup, and the Championship. His contributions on the field will surely be remembered by fans and teammates alike.
The Englishman, who also played for Aston Villa, departs with 310 appearances in the Premier League. Albrighton, the scorer of Leicester's first Champions League goal, left the club in June after a decade.
"Now that this day has arrived, I find myself filled with gratitude and peace," Albrighton wrote on Instagram. "From the moment I kicked my first ball as a young boy, my dream was always to play for Aston Villa. To have achieved that once would have been more than enough.
"What followed was a decade (with Leicester City) of extraordinary moments that I could have never imagined in my wildest dreams... I want to express my heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported me along the journey. Without you, none of this would have been possible."
